Aggan - an app that ensures the safety of fishermen

The Agga app, developed by the innovation company Alda Öryggi, is offered free of charge to Icelandic small-boat fishermen. It is a specially designed safety management system that modernizes, facilitates, and simplifies the management of small-boat safety. The app keeps all information related to the boat's safety in one place.
Now that more fishing days are permitted, increased activity in coastal fishing is expected. To ensure safety, it is important that small-boat fishermen conduct their own inspections of the boat and its equipment. Agga makes that process easier and guides fishermen through everything important to check and keep in mind regarding their safety. The app contains checklists that guide fishermen through self-inspections and risk assessments of the boat's condition and safety. These checklists were created by the National Association of Small Boat Owners, the Icelandic Transport Authority, and the Maritime Safety and Survival Training Centre.
In Agga, fishermen can also review various safety training materials for refreshers and conduct onboarding training for new crew members. Likewise, small-boat fishermen can report incidents at sea—such as engine failure, grounding, fire on board, or accidents involving crew members—through the app using the ATVIK – Fishermen feature. These reports are sent directly to the Icelandic Transport Accident Investigation Board (RNSA), as fishermen are legally required to report such incidents. It is important to do so in order to use the information for preventive safety measures at sea.
Agga is free for all small-boat fishermen and is available on the App Store and Google Play. Fishermen only need to download the app, register, and can immediately begin conducting self-inspections and risk assessments to ensure they are prepared and safe for the upcoming fishing season. A user guide and instructional video for using Agga is available below or on Agga's website.
